Gone and Back again part 2

I fancy myself a good photographer... I mean out of 100 pictures, 2 or 3 are really good!!!

So I thought I would do a pictorial journal of our long weekend.....
....and the Handyman walked right into every single picture I took.

I mean seriously Rich ( that's his real name---Richard), can you not see I'm standing here taking a picture?
He would just walk right in front of me.

Like this.

And this.

And this.

And this.

And this.

While annoying at first,  I got to thinking it was funny, and I would laugh the whole time. Then he would laugh, not knowing I was laughing at him. It's just funny when people laugh....it makes you happy.
So, we had a grand time over the weekend.  Laughed ourselves silly until he realized I was laughing at him, and then he wouldn't get in anymore pictures!

The first thing I ate on our long weekend was this:

A Huckleberry Ice Cream Cone. Weight Watchers be damned!

Huckleberries grow in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and maybe northern California. In the mountains.
Very similar to a blueberry.... but different.

Huckleberries are small round berries, with a similar appearance to blueberries, though their color may range instead from deep crimson to eggplant purple. They do have a taste similar to blueberries, but many say when they are fully ripe, it’s much like eating the most flavorful blueberry in the world. You’ll find huckleberries growing wild in August through the US Northwest, and find very few in grocery stores. They are not cultivated as are their blueberry cousins and the best place to look for them is either in the wild or at local farmer’s markets. Since they are rare and not grown commercially, expect to pay a hefty price.

When I was younger, we would have to go Huckleberry picking in the woods in Eastern Oregon. My grandma mentioned to be careful of the bears because bears love Huckleberries....and they do. So, I would spend the great family Huckleberry in panic at every twig snapping and bird chirping, thinking the bears were coming to get me. Looking back I was a very nervous child.

My Granddad took me and my brother fishing on the Imnaha river in Eastern Oregon. We met another old man who was fishing, he said "the rattlesnakes are bad this year". So, from that moment on, I did not have fun fishing....I kept alert for rattle snakes, so I could save the lives of my family!!! All. Day. Long.

It was very tiring--being so vigilant. Same thing with the Huckleberry picking and the bears.

Oh....I got off track. These ice-cream cones were very good!

If you are ever in the middle of south-east Oregon on a 2-lane road between Jordan Valley and Burns Jct. Stop at this little place in Rome and have one.

Tomorrow, I 'll show you more food we ate and BOOKS we bought!

I guess you were taking pictures of everything the Handyman found interesting!

As I slowly scrolled through each picture, I laughed harder and harder. I really lost it when I read about the two of you laughing--and he didn't have a clue why! Great stuff.
