Saturday night

The Handyman and I just got back from Reno, where we went to a 'Kenny Loggins' concert.   I won the tickets at an event a few weeks ago.  I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was really impressed.  He was really good.  He was also more 'rock and roll' than I thought.  I always think of 'Footloose' as more pop music and ' Return to Pooh Corner' was just a grown up lullaby.....there was so much more to him!  And he's written tons of songs for other people!
It was a fun evening.  The only bad part was, it was in a showroom with booths and tables (not stadium seating), so we had to sit in a booth  (a semi-circle one) with a couple we didn't know.  I was a bit uncomfortable with it.  They were very nice people, but it was just weird to me.
My daughter-in-law told me it was very American of me to be uncomfortable with it.  She's traveled the world. I  haven't.  So maybe she knows what she's talking about.  Maybe Americans are awkward in close situations.
One thing she's talking about right now.....is being Thankful.  This month, November--the month of American Thanksgiving,  she is writing  a blog post every day to name something she's thankful for.  (Last year she  wrote she was thankful for us, her in-laws).   Anyway, I am saying now, that one-- I think it's a wonderful thing to write of things we're thankful for, and two, I am thankful for her.
I'm thankful she likes us.  I'm thankful we have a good relationship.  I'm thankful she lets me do things, to,with and for my grandchildren.
Such as.....we spent the night at their house last night after the concert.  We didn't see the babies  (twins, a boy, Eli and a girl, Emerson) until this morning, when we proceeded to really get them wound up.  We played music and danced and sang (you can do that with babies, they still love you), took them to the  store where Granddad chased Eli around and I held Emmy's hand and walked all over--anywhere she led me  (they just like to walk), showed them toys, didn't buy them any, and then gave them back to their parents,  all in the course of 3 hours.   By that time they were kind of in need of a nap.

So, I am thankful for my daughter in law, #1 Sadie.   And I'm thankful I can be the kind of grandma I want to be.

I do not have a food post, or a book post....just the thankful post.  I will be back tomorrow (Sunday) with a new cookbook recipe for Cookbook Sundays.

In closing can I also say that I'm thankful for getting tile purchased for my new kitchen flooring!?   YAY.  It's been a long time coming.  More about that later.  (new floor, new appliances)

Um...since I know I have a new kitchen floor in my near future, does that mean I don't have to mop my old one?
Someone please say yes.

Does yes mean I don't have to mop?  Or that I really should still mop?  I've confused myself.

Yes, that feeling with the seating is definitely an American thing as I remember the days of living in Germany and everyone there and in other European countries sitting together like one big happy family. It was fun and a great way to meet people! You definitely have a lot to be thankful for and good luck with the floring!

Don't mop. What's the point, it'll be gone soon. :o)

I saw Kenny Loggins in concert years ago when he was still with Loggins and Messina and it was great!

We love to sit with other people at events and get to know them. Last year in Charleston, we ate at a diner and were seated with a couple local fellows and we had so much fun visiting with them.

Your daughter in law sounds like a gem!

The concert sounds like it was so much fun! Glad you got to spend time with E&E. I say you probably will need to mop at some point, but only do it on a need-to-do basis. You know, if something spills ;)
