Friday Friend Recipe #150 -- Newest Stone's Favorite Appetizer

Come with me as I continue to countdown my Friday Friend Cookbook!

What is it, you may ask?

In a nutshell...
About 17 years ago, 50 of my closest friends and family, who had been on an e-mail forum with me, sent in recipes in different categories and we compiled a cookbook.
I decided to count those down!
Why?

Because  one night I was looking thru the cookbook and I said, "I should make every recipe in here for my blog"
The Handyman--who thinks he knows me better than I know myself, said,  "you'll never EVER do that."
Well,  maybe I will!  Maybe I'll show him!

Which brings me to recipes #150
 Sadie's Favorite Appetizer

This is not a joke!  When Sadie and Mark were first married, she didn't cook  (I guess she still doesn't?) and for potlucks, etc  she would sometimes take cheese.  Or at least that's my version of why she turned in cheese to the cookbook.  It could have been because I bugged her to turn something in and this is what she came up with.
But you know....you can't go wrong with a good cheese platter!

For the record let me state right off that I have an issue with people who get a "license" off of the internet to perform weddings calling themselves 'ordained'.
There is nothing wrong with getting a license of the internet to perform a friend's wedding. It's all fun and games --- my sister-in-law, Cherrie Lou Who has a very good friend Max, who married she and her husband. He got his license off the internet just for that purpose.  His nick-name is "The Reverend Max".
But it's just a nickname.  Like Shorty or Bugsy. Or Red.
His is not a Reverend, nor is he ORDAINED.

Whew!  I got that off my chest.

I say this because my daughter-in-law, went to 4 years of college and then 3 years of graduate school to get her Master's of Divinity.
And then---she still have to wait a couple of years to become Ordained by the Methodist Church.
It's not an easy thing.

Enough Enough--I could go on and on.
(I'll take a breath here)

Yale Divinity School!
That's where she went.  My son went to Southern Connecticut State University. Both in New Haven, CT.
They lived on the campus of the Divinity School in married student housing.

The Divinity School sits on a hill above the rest of the Yale Colleges/buildings.
It was amazing to me for a couple of reasons.
1 because--well--Yale.
2 because it's on the East Coast--so very different from the West Coast.  It was all so old and green. And Harry Potterish (the buildings).
University campuses intrigue me. Especially the whole Ivy League thing.

I was lucky enough to visit there a couple of times.

One was for their graduations.
This is Sadie getting her diploma.

I was in awe of the whole process, but the twins?
They slept while their mother got her diploma.

They woke up just in time for a photo opp!

The chapel at the Divinity School

Some random pics of the campus.  I took them all but the last one.

This is the Divinity School Campus from the air.  I did not take this one.

That's my story.   Sometimes I try to tell a funny story about a funny situation--but there is nothing funny here.  Nothing funny at all about saying you are ordained when you are not!!!

Sorry---

I was going to say it was a great opportunity to get to go to Yale, but that would imply luck, and there was nothing lucky about it.  It took a lot of hard work and smarts to get there.

And I'm sure Sadie took a lot of cheese to potlucks while she was there! (smart thing to do as mentioned before, one can't go wrong with cheese.  See? Smart girl. )

This is recipe #150 in the countdown.
I have 144 left to go!
