Six Bean BBQ Beans--Friday Friend Cookbook Countdown #55

Friday Friend Recipe #55:  Six Bean BBQ Beans

Making my way thru my Friday Friend Cookbook, one recipe at a time.

What is the Friday Friend cookbook:   I have about 50 of my closest friends and family on an e-mail forum which I called the Friday Friends (from all over the county).  At first, most of them didn't know each other, (they knew me) but over the past 15 years, we've answered and shared silly--and serious---questions,  exchanged Secret Santa Christmas gifts,  had a dieting contest in which we paid a $1 a week and that money went to a scholarship fund for a Friday Friends son's memorial scholarship, and we went on a great vacation for my 52 birthday.

AND,  we contributed recipes for a cookbook.
Which brings me to this... recipe #55

Theda's
Six Bean BBQ Beans

This is Theda's 9th appearance in the FF Cookbook Countdown!
Nine times I have made her recipes. (see them here)
Actually it's more than 9 times.  I have made this Bean dish a few times before.
It's a good one.
Everyone has a baked bean recipe for summer time, right?
Well, this one is just a little bit different.
Try it!
It just  might become 'yours'.

Six Bean BBQ Beans
Theda Pansevicius
Tualatin, OR

1 lb of each, drained:
Kidney
Pinto
Great Northern
Butter
Navy

1 lb pork and beans

1/4 cup bbq sauce
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup prepared mustard
1/4 cup molasses
1 small onion - chopped
1 small green pepper -- chopped
1 cup brown sugar

Mix all ingredients together in a slow cooker.
Cook on low all day.

And now?
I introduce you--or say a fun fact about her--- or tell a story.

The Handyman and I traveled up to Washington State to our nephew's graduation and the birth of a new great-niece, last weekend.
Theda, traveled there too, as her nephew was also graduating from the same school.
(we grew up there and she's related to everyone, so this was bound to happen)
We decided to meet up for lunch one day.

We met at Anthony's for some clam chowder and to look out at the river.

We drank these:

and ate these:

and then I asked the Handyman to take our picture.
He was questioning my phone/camera, and I said
"here Give it to me! You're not doing it right"
(as you can tell)
Poor Handyman!

Then I wanted a picture of  us and the water --
didn't work.
We could get the water (kind of)

Or us (kind of)

So here is a photo of Theda and her sweet grandson, Carter, instead.
We've been friends since Jr. High and now we have grandchildren.
Still freaks me out how fast time flies!

Carl would love those baked beans! I get kind of freaked out too when I realize I'm old enough to be a grandmother!
