Friday Friend Recipe #264- Spaghetti Sauce #15

My Friday Friend Cookbook Countdown #264

Lisa's Spaghetti Sauce
Spaghetti Sauce #15

and you know all the whys and wherefores of this countdown, right? Homemade cookbook, friends contributed, Handyman said I couldn't/wouldn't do it, I'll show him, yadda yadda yadda....

...and the rest is cookbook history!

Just remember, the countdown is not all about pretty food and food design---it's about the people and the stories.
And (the most important thing)  proving my husband wrong--and that I can and WILL make every recipe in this cookbook

I've never met a spaghetti sauce I didn't like!
And that holds true with this one from my good friend Lisa.
Seen here with her husband Dennis, at her 60th birthday party, which was a  Roaring 20's theme.
As you can tell--she likes to get in the 'theme' of things.

Growing up we never had jarred sauce or used a seasoning packet such as this one. Even today when I ask how someone makes spaghetti sauce, it takes me by surprise to realize that most people don't make their sauce from scratch anymore.
But the thing I've discovered in cooking all these Friday Friend recipes (and this is spaghetti sauce #15 in the countdown) is that those jarred sauces taste really good!  As does a little bit of pre-made seasoning.
So, go head and take those shortcuts and use this seasoning packet. Mmmmmm.
Quick and Easy.

Speaking of the 'theme' of things.....

We once had a 'fake' water fun day/bbq and she really got into the theme of things!
Lisa is always, ALWAYS a good sport when it comes to life, parties, and what-have-you.

I'm not sure who actually made the photo op background, but we really did have great themed backyard get togethers.

But let me tell you about her.
This is only  her 2nd time in the Friday Friend Cookbook Countdown--you can check out her other recipe here.  (just click here)
I originally said this;   Lisa is originally from Texas. Transplanted to Nevada like a lot of us, but it has become her home.  I do love her little Texas  Twist to her recipes tho.  I love her little Texas Twist in everything!

Lisa was telling me how she and Dennis still like to read a paper in the morning-- she said, "we have a subscription to my little home town paper back in Texas and Dennis chuckles at the articles that make the front page: Garbage Pick up  Postponed or The Chicken Shack Grand Opening or Oplin Sing-Along this Saturday Night... Oplin is a community several miles from Clyde, where I grew up."
These were her activities growing up in small town Texas--
play kick ball at the old gym (haunted of course)
swim in the big water tank
chase peacocks
sneak off to Abilene to the dance hall
hang out with boys in the high school parking lot

I think Lisa must have grown up in a different century!
Oh  yeah--she did!

Actually all small towns tend to run a little behind the times. Well, that was before cable TV and social media.  Now we're right up in the thick of things.
Too bad-- I liked the innocence of small town America.

And that my friends is Lisa!  A small town girl at heart, with a big heart,  and a big smile.

And then,  just because I think this is funny--
her husband Dennis is a Chiropractor and once when I took a photo (from another get together, which may or may not have been themed) Mitzi's husband Larry, decided to 'crack' Dennis's neck.  For a photo op only I hope!

I know this picture was taken years ago--because the thing about having life-long friends is that you can see them change.
Today, Shelly's  husband Lorin's hair is shorter and much greyer and Larry? Well,  he has no hair anymore.

And this my friends is

recipe #264

Only 103 left to go!

I can do it!
