My Big Backyard (on Thursday instead of Wednesday)

Because I'm a nerd, I want to see how my backyard changes throughout the year.

So! I'm going to take a few pictures of it each Wednesday to share.

Today is actually Thursday -- I wasn't home yesterday, or the day before or the day before.  I wasn't home in time to do a blog post anyway.

We have too much shade and it makes horrible shadows at all times of the day to do a comparison.

We have too much shade!  This is hysterically funny, since we live in the high desert!!

This is what the Handyman had to deal with last weekend--on Sunday, raking and blowing leaves.

(he does this every weekend for a couple of months.  I say WAIT  until the trees are done dropping leaves, but he can't stand it)

But then Wednesday comes around again and the back yard looks like this:

Outdoor/Backyard Wednesday

Because I'm a nerd, I want to see how my backyard changes throughout the year.

So! I'm going to take a few pictures of it each Wednesday to share.

I took these photos last Wednesday (October 4th) but then left town for a week without posting.

We don't have internet up at our cabin so I couldn't post.  I'm doing a 2fer today--last week and this week--but in 2 different posts. This is post #1 for the day)

 Just wait till you see this week--- I think things are beginning to change!

Then you'll get months and months of nothing but brown dead stuff.

It's Outdoor Wednesday in my big backyard

Because I'm a nerd, I want to see how my backyard changes throughout the year.

So! I'm going to take a few pictures of it each Wednesday to share.

Really, I should just choose one photo, in the same spot and take that and share it every Wednesday, but I get carried away.  I over explain things, over do things, compare and contrast things (that really don't need comparison and contrasting)-- when one dessert will do, I will make three (just in case... what if somebody doesn't like something or is allergic or??)

So please, just bear with me.

Or just look at the first two photographs and ignore the rest.

This one was taken on Sept 6th

in the morning so the shadows come from the left or east

And this one  on Sept 26th.

in the late afternoon, so the shadows are different 

Really nothing much has changed.  No color in the leaves, BUT we are in Nevada, sometimes things just turn brown.

Seriously.

And of course, all the other directions of my backyard from my patio--and one of my front yard.

I told you--overkill!

and I was too focused on getting a photo before I went to work so didn't notice the bathroom rugs drying over the patio chairs?

This is how it looks today! 

So many leaves are falling!

The Handyman is not happy about this, but no matter what, it happens every year.

It's been so hot this summer and or Poplar trees are getting old (they do have a short life span and I'm getting kind of nervous about this) that I know they are dropping leaves early. 

But Yikes!

Big Backyard Project

On Wednesdays I used to do a meme called

Outdoor Wednesday and I did love it as I got to share "my Nevada" outdoors, but, I haven't done that for quite sometime.  

I think I put everything on hold last October and am just now getting back into things.

While I do have some great outdoor photographs that I could share--I'm going to do this weird thing that I've always wanted to do:  

I want to see how my backyard changes throughout the year.

So! I'm going to take a few pictures of it each Wednesday to share.

Believe me--there is nothing more "dismal" than a Nevada  winter.  I just want to see how it changes in my backyard.

It gets its own version of dreary in the dead of winter, but this is what my backyard looked like on Saturday (I promise I'll take it on Wednesday from now on..)

Then today  (actually Wednesday) I decided to take a few more photos... look how many leaves have fallen since Saturday!

I ventured out in the yard to take a picture looking back. 

I don't know that I'll do this every Wednesday.

(there will be snow sometimes!)

It certainly doesn't look like we live in the desert!

This is mostly for me, because I'm a nerd and I want to see how  the seasons change.

So, if you are looking at this thru-out the year, you might have to put up with junk lying in my yard that I didn't notice (like the blue Japanese lantern that fell off the tree during last night's wind storm among other things.)

Let's see how the seasons change....

Outdoor Wednesday

We opened up our cabin in Oregon this past weekend.

It rained and was damp and cold, but oh, so beautiful and green!  Coming from this desert rat--where I think brown in beautiful too--green is heaven!

Speaking of heaven,  I made the family take a drive on Saturday afternoon, and we came upon an old cemetery. Below are a few photos of that and then some more random ones of our country road drive.

**by the way, the Handyman says: you have taken the same photos of the same places for years!  He's right.

But still.... beautiful!
