Friday Friend Recipe #269 Spaghetti Sauce #16

My Friday Friend Cookbook Countdown #269

My cousin Barb Anyan's Spaghetti Sauce
Spaghetti Sauce #16

and you know all the whys and wherefores of this countdown, right? Homemade cookbook, friends contributed, Handyman said I couldn't/wouldn't do it, I'll show him, yadda yadda yadda....

...and the rest is cookbook history!

Just remember, the countdown is not all about pretty food and food design---it's about the people and the stories.
And (the most important thing)  proving my husband wrong--and that I can and WILL make every recipe in this cookbook

I think I said on Facebook that this is one of our favorites!
The smoky sausage was a good addition.
I used the spices we like (Barb said to kind of--whatever is in the cupboard)
And of course I used the green peppers.

Just look at that meatball goodness!
I impressed myself!

I don't know what to say about spaghetti sauce tho.
It's mouthwatering!
Just like Nonna's.
Authentic Italian!
Give everyone the same basic ingredients and they all come out different.
We have not had a bad one in our 16--SIXTEEN   different versions in this countdown, but this one was mouthwatering--and just like Nonna's.

For the record, Barb is actually me 2nd cousin--our Dad's were first cousins.
Barb is 2 years older than me (this has no bearing on anything, I'm just sayin')
When we were little there must have been a family reunion every summer, because I have lots of memories of family reunions in or around Clarkston, Washington. We had a great uncle who was blind and it was hard for him to travel, so we often all met there.
Uncle Bill and Aunt Rose owned a small neighborhood grocery market in Clarkston--but WAIT.  This is not my story.

Let me meander a bit okay?
This is Barb's 1st and ONLY entry into the Friday Friend Cookbook.
Her only one.
I feel I need to get all the stories in about her!

1. She is just like me -- in that we each had 4 boys.
Her is Barb and her husband Randy and their 4 sons.

2. She is not just like me -- in that she has more grandchildren.
She has 20 so far, I am expecting my 15th.
I think that I am done.
I don't think she is.

3. She wanted to grow up to be a teacher or a vet. (she was an operating room technician --let me know if I got that right Barb) I think she sewed the people up.

4. She made it her goal in high school to go to all the dances. And she achieved that goal.

5. She was in Job's Daughters.
Had lots of formals.
She went to the Davenport Hotel in Spokane, WA  for her senior prom (so fancy!! I think they had a revolving door)

6. Every year at church she was the angel (goes without saying) in the nativity play.

7. She has flannel sheets.

8. One time in a surgery she saw a guy with a fake tan/tan line.  In a place no one wants to talk about.

9. She flunked her first driving test (sorry Barb--but wait!  So did I!  We really are alike), it was that darn parallel parking!

You don't believe I know that much about her?
I have this all in writing--about all my  Friday Friends, from when we did the forum.
I have the goods on ALL of them!
(i was going to write a book at one time, now I'm just tossing papers.)

But my story is not about any of those things, my story about Barb, is actually the 2nd memory I can remember.
The first was waving to my mom and she waving back from the hospital room when she had my brother.  We lived in Spokane, Washington at the time.

My second memory in my whole life is this:
The memory I have of going to see Santa Claus. I was 3 and my brother had just been born, so I went to (I'm sure it was Crescent Drug) with my cousin Barb and her mom.
In my mind we went thru a revolving door, but I know for sure that we had on our red tights and wool coats and mittens. We waited in line to see Santa, I was so excited!  As we got closer, Barb -- who was 2 years older than me (this really must be important cuz I keep bringing it  up 😀 but I figured she was older, so she knew things I didn't) turned to me and told me that he was only Santa's helper and the real  Santa was at a different department store.
I don't  remember being sad, I just thought I would have my mom take me to that different department store!
And yet--I told this helper my Christmas wish list just in case!

I am  happy to report tho, on December 8th, 2004, Barb recanted her statement.

so all is well.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

And here she is with all her daughters-in-law.

and Randy with all their sons

And then, this is just funny!
Randy worked for Pepsi for ever until he retired and I remember one time when I said I liked Coke she said that Pepsi was the nectar of the gods.

And this my friends is

recipe #269

Only 98 left to go!

I can do it!

WOO HOO!  I am below 100 recipes now.  Yay!  Yahoo! Whoopie!

Altho.... do you remember when I counted wrong before?  I think I did it again.
I keep counting what I have left by recipe AND by person and it does not add up to 98-- it's more like 85.
Which would make me very happy, but for now....I'll stick to the 99 until it gets closer to the end and I'll recount what I have left

Friday Friend recipe #352

Making my way thru my  Friday Friend Cookbook , one recipe at a time. What is the Friday Friend cookbook?  I once had about 50 of my close...
