Friday Friend Recipe #'s 313 and 314--Sandy's LOL Spaghetti and Pina` Colada Cake

Making my way thru my Friday Friend Cookbook, one recipe at a time.

What is the Friday Friend cookbook? I once had about 50 of my closest friends and family (from all over the county) on an e-mail forum which I called the Friday Friends. At first, most of them didn't know each other, (they knew me) but over the past 21 years, we've answered and shared silly--and serious---questions, exchanged Secret Santa Christmas gifts, had a dieting contest in which we paid a $1 a week and that money went to a scholarship fund for a Friday Friends son's memorial scholarship, and we went on a great vacation for my 52 birthday. (plus so much more....)

AND, we contributed recipes for a cookbook.

I was looking at the cookbook the other night and I said, "I should make every recipe in here for my blog."
The Handyman--who thinks he knows me better than I know myself (this happened to be a question on the Friday Friend forum once---does your spouse/partner know you better than you know yourself? Said, "you'll never, EVER do that."
WELL---maybe I'll show him!  Maybe I will.

Which brings me to these... recipes #313 and #314

Sandy's Spaghetti and Pina` Colada Cake

It's so hard to talk about spaghetti except to say that I love it.  I would have pasta every night if I could.
By the way--this is spaghetti sauce #21 in the FF Cookbook Countdown.

And this pina colada cake?  It's to die for!
A pina-colada is the only drink has fat grams!
It's my favorite --sure the other cocktails might have sugar, but my favorite has fat grams too!
This great cake has them all!  Sugar and fat!  But it's so yummy that it doesn't count!
Because it doesn't taste heavy---it tastes like a lighter dessert.  It's so good in the summertime, because it's tropical tasting and tropical just screams summer---you have a week of summer left, hurry up and make it!

These are Sandy's 2nd and 3rd recipe in the Friday Friend Cookbook Countdown.
Check out her previous recipe here--just click on it.
Then you'll get her great summer salad AND better photos of she
and I.
(because she might kill me when she sees these --she won't like these photos of herself.  But 25 years later she looks exactly the same, hasn't aged at all! And is still just so darn cute!)

A long time ago---January 1997, Superbowl 31 to be exact, ---Sandy had a party.
She loves to host parties, but especially Superbowl Parties.
We all got shirts.
We all saw the premier of the Budweiser frogs. (that was actually 2 years earlier, but who's counting? AND we were again at Leo and Sandy's that time)

I just got this letter from Sandy today and 25 years later they are still loving to host the Superbowl Parties!
We had some really fun times---not just at the Superbowl Parties, but at all parties that Leo and Sandy hosted.
They were the best!!  Are the best! (it's just that I don't live in their neighborhood, or even their town, nor their state anymore, so no more parties for me.  Poor me)

from Sandy's letter:

They were actually the neighborhood hosts and the glue that held the neighborhood together--I mean look at this paragraph from the same letter---
(and don't let the "it kinda sucks" fool you--they LOVE IT!

The neighbors aren't dummies---they know that Leo and Sandy have the best parties, are the best hosts, the best entertainers.
(in fact, I just stole her rhubarb party idea for my cooking club, and we had a rhubarb party last weekend.  click here to see what I'm talking about)

In the picture below I can just hear her-- She's saying why, WHY are you taking my picture?
Cuz you look so dang cute Sandy!

Way back in 1997, at this particular Superbowl party, Leo and Sandy were in the process of moving and had boxes stacked in their garage, but, still insisted on hosting--and everyone agreed (because we're not dummies either!) and had the best time.
After the Superbowl (we are Pacific Standard Time, so it wasn't that late) we played Pictionary in their garage.  The boys against the girls!  Woo Hoo. Girls won of course.

Seen below are Leo (who for some reason was not a team player and didn't have his Superbowl shirt on 😄) and the Handyman (Rich), who could not figure out what the heck Sandy was drawing!

I'm not so sure Sandy knew what she was drawing either---

And then it dawned on them!

It must have been funny!
Good friends--good times--great memories.

And this my friends are
recipes #313 and #314

Only 53 left to go!

I can do it!
Although It's taking me forever!!
