The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye

From Goodreads:
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning a letter arrives, addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl, from a woman he hasn’t heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye. But before Harold mails off a quick reply, a chance encounter convinces him that he absolutely must deliver his message to Queenie in person. In his yachting shoes and light coat, Harold Fry embarks on an urgent quest. Determined to walk six hundred miles to the hospice, Harold believes that as long as he walks, Queenie will live. A novel of charm, humor, and profound insight into the thoughts and feelings we all bury deep within our hearts, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry introduces Rachel Joyce as a wise—and utterly irresistible—storyteller.

From Me:
3.75 stars
This is a great story.
A quest--but with an unlikely hero, Harold, who starts a unintentional journey of self-discovery.
A very  uplifting read.

I wish I had some of yous (that's a word---yous.  It means all of you in the book blogging world. Yous) skill at putting words on paper to describe how you feel about a book.
I do not.
I say things like this:
It was a really good book.
Wow.
This book was so good.
You should read it.

But I hope you (or yous) get my meaning anyway.

This was a book that my reading group was really divided on ... I loved it. Loved the unlikely cast of characters that Harold meets along the way, Loved the slow transformation that his wife makes. Loved the way Harold interacted with all the people he met ... and loved the idea of going walk-about. Great read! You picked a good one to post!

I liked this book, it was the first book I read by Rachel Joyce. Now you need to follow up with The Love Song of Queenie Hennessey!
