Cooking Club --Christmas 2018--Scavenger Hunt

What Is a Cooking Club?

A cooking club is a group of people who gather together on a regular or semi-regular basis to take on a large cooking project or explore an unfamiliar cuisine. As mentioned, the benefits are usually to share labor and ingredients. Other reasons are that one person may have expertise in a certain area that she is willing to share with others, or perhaps the project asks for a very specific piece of equipment that very few people own, but someone in your group has.

But really, the main reason is that there’s enormous fun to be had when a group of people gather together, roll up their collective sleeves, and get something delicious done.

Enormous fun to be had when a group of people gather together!
That's us!

And now---that Christmas (2021) is just a few short days past, I can post this Cooking Club adventure that happened 3 years ago (2018).

I am not one to rush into things.

I love my cooking club friends. This holiday season (this one 3 years ago) we decided to go on a scavenger hunt and then meet up for pizza. The Pizza Parlor was the finish line.

We had 3 teams, 3 carloads--and you were not allowed to partner with your spouse. We also had to wear the proverbial "ugly Christmas sweater".

There were a few non-conformists tho.

I wore a Christmas apron, because... cooking club.

       (
Dinner club?  supper club?  we just like to cook, eat, visit and learn about food and have fun!  Party People--that's what we are!  It's enormous fun--see above.)

We began at the home of the Schumacher's.  Paul makes everyone a drink (only one--as we were racing in cars on snowy roads) and Sally gives directions.

The teams were as follows:

Team #1 --Paul, Charlie Debbie and Shelly

Team #2 -- Lorin, Gina, Rich and April

Team #3 --Mark, Doug, Debbie E and Sally

Our mission was this:  Find the lights/decorations on the list and take a photo with someone from your group to prove you were actually there and then be the first to make it back to the Pizza Parlor. We had one hour to accomplish our mission. Who will win? Who will lose?  Who will be the forgettable middle child?

Since I was the photo person in our car/team (and am usually the only one taking photos) All the Scavenger hunt finds are me and Charlie and sometimes Shelly.  Paul was the driver.

Charlie was--nervous.  He thought people would call the cops on us when we ran up on their lawn and snapped a picture and ran off.  But we were too fast for that!  They couldn't catch us!

I really am in that photo!

I was wrong--we got out to do a team selfie and then made Paul get out for a couple solo also.

I won't bore you with all the photos of Christmas Lights, but I will add a couple more of nervous Charlie.
Oh...and the Mayor, The Handyman, My husband.  LOL you get the picture, right?

and the Mayor's team, Lorin and April, minus Gina, the photographer.

We teased Charlie about being nervous and I wrote that we were too fast for that--too fast to get caught, but apparently our team wasn't fast enough.  We were

THE LOSERS!

************
Oh well, all is good once you're at the pizza parlor, right?

Then the tallying begins!
Shelly has her calculator.

Gina also has her calculator out---these are our serious competitors!

April points out a mistake!
She's serious about this.

Here we are---having enormous fun!
We really do, you know, have enormous fun

April and Paul
(not a couple)

Charlie and Debbie (a couple)
Doug and Rich (not a couple)

Lorin and Sally
(not a couple--just friends)

Mark and Gina
(a couple)

And the winners?
Losers?
and the middle group, just like the middle child, never to be remembered (just ask my middle child)

Team #3
Mark, Doug, Debbie and Sally
Congrats on your win!

Team #2
Lorin, Gina, Rich and April.
The ones who came in 2nd and 2nd to last.  The middle.
I think we made them buy the pizza.

The losers again
Team #1
Paul, Charlie, me and Shelly.

The end!
This was the best cooking club ever!
